PUSS IN THONGS
The story of “ Puss in Boots” was first recorded some time during the sixteenth century by french author, Charles Perrault. This is just one of the original folk stories related to him as a child, by his french nurse maid. All of these stories contained a strong message or moral, pertaining to some danger of which children must be aware. Most of these messages are still applicable today.
In this adaptation the brothers Dick and Harry Miller, are forced out of their home by their greedy brother Tom. Dick sets off to make his fortune and Harry is left to look after the cat, Puss.
Puss assures Harry that she can make them both rich, if he does everything she asks him to do. Harry must provide Puss with a pair of strong boots and a very grand hat. Not being able to afford much, they go to the local thrift shop, where they meet Dora, Doris and Daisy, the wonderfully eccentric, elderly volunteers. The best they can do is a rather grandiose hat and a pair of thongs.
Suitably attired, Puss sets out across the Great Sandy Desert to impress the King and convince him to allow Harry to marry the beautiful Princess.
During the expedition, we encounter a Bunyip, a witch, a camel and many other zany characters.
As in all good fairy tales, good eventually triumphs, Harry and the Princess are betrothed, Puss meets her soul mate, the witch meets a sticky end and all live happily ever after.
